We have many wonderful ministries for children at FUMC. We believe in helping our little ones grow in God's love and grace. To grow as a community of faith connecting them to God, to each other, and to the world. We strive to offer ample opportunities for our children to learn the importance of God's word through small groups, enrichment programs, mission projects and more. We are committed to providing a strong foundation for them to become disciples of Jesus Christ.
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14

If you haven’t already heard about us, let us introduce ourselves. We are the Open Hearts at First United Methodist Church Hot Springs (FUMC). We are the mothers, fathers, siblings, care-givers, friends, and supporters of children with special needs within our church community. Just like any family, we all have our differences, and like any family we work together to make sure that all of us grow in the light of God's Love.
Our children teach us that wheelchairs are not obstacles to playing in God's house, that communication disorders do not prevent us from talking to God, and that learning differences do not keep us from being students of the Lord.
We work diligently to eliminate the obstacles that prevent families from participating in the programs offered at First United Methodist Church. It is our goal to provide a church environment that is safe, nurturing and enjoyable for ALL children.
Be an Open Hearts Angel
This ministry is dependent upon the support of amazing volunteers who dedicate their skills, services, and time to the Open Hearts’ children and families. If you want to share God's love with a special child, please prayerfully consider supporting this ministry. We offer opportunities to serve at 9:30 on Sunday mornings. Contact Michelle Wilkins, Director of Children's Ministry by phone at (501) 623-6668 ext 130 or by email for more information.
